Application planning note · Custom cemented carbide tooling
Define the carbide component before requesting a quote
Use this checklist to specify a custom carbide insert, mold core or other precision tooling component. The images on this page illustrate component forms; acceptance limits and delivery scope must be confirmed for your drawing.
Information for drawing review
- Material: exact carbide grade, supplier specification, binder requirements and any material certificate needed.
- Geometry: drawing revision, 3D model, overall dimensions, datums, mounting features and mating parts.
- Critical surfaces: identify the working surface separately from support and locating features. State dimensional tolerances, form requirements and surface finish as separate requirements.
- Finishing: specify whether a coating is required, its functional purpose and which surfaces are included. Confirm coating and post-coating inspection in the quotation.
- Quantity and timing: prototype quantity, production quantity, target date and any staged approval before batch manufacture.
Agree an inspection plan
List the characteristics that require recorded results and the inspection method, measurement conditions and acceptance criteria for each. Where a surface form or roughness value is required, include the measurement area and evaluation settings so the result can be interpreted against the drawing.
Metrixnano states machining precision down to 0.5 μm on suitable features, subject to technical review. This figure is not a blanket limit for every dimension, material grade or surface. Typical lead time is approximately one week, adjusted to material, complexity, quantity, finishing and inspection.
Request project-specific evidence
For supplier approval, request the relevant material records and inspection documentation for the agreed component. This page is a planning guide; it does not report a completed customer project or measured production result.
