Custom glass optical lenses and aspheric components
Metrixnano supplies custom glass optical lenses for camera modules, lens assemblies and precision optical systems. Send your optical prescription, component drawing and required quantity so we can review the glass selection, geometry, manufacturing route and inspection scope.
Lens forms may include convex, concave, meniscus and aspheric designs, subject to project review. The required optical performance and assembly tolerances determine the specification for each component.
Define the lens before requesting a quotation
| Specification | Information required |
|---|---|
| Optical material | Glass grade or approved equivalent, refractive index and dispersion requirements at specified reference conditions. |
| Geometry | Diameter, center thickness, edge thickness, clear aperture, radii and aspheric coefficients where applicable. |
| Form and surface | State surface-form acceptance limits, roughness, cosmetic criteria and the applicable measurement method. |
| Alignment | Decenter, tilt and mechanical datums as required by your optical assembly. |
| Coating | Wavelength range, transmission or reflection target, angle of incidence and environmental requirements. |
| Quantity and delivery | Prototype and production quantities plus target date. Typical lead time is approximately one week, adjusted for material availability, complexity, quantity, coating and inspection. The quotation confirms delivery. |
Agree inspection and acceptance criteria
Surface form, dimensional tolerance and surface roughness describe different properties. They should be specified and measured separately. A general machining capability does not establish the optical performance of every lens.
Define the measurement area, datum references, wavelength where relevant and required report format. Ask which inspection results will accompany your shipment, and agree the acceptance criteria before production.
Frequently asked questions
Can you make a lens from an optical prescription?
Send the prescription together with a dimensioned mechanical drawing, material grade and quantity for a feasibility review.
Can one published tolerance be used for every lens diameter?
No. Achievable specifications depend on the material, geometry, aperture and process. We confirm each critical requirement for the individual design.
What is needed for a confidential project?
Request an NDA before sharing files. Include the drawing revision and highlight the features that control performance in your assembly.
