Tungsten carbide tooling for optical components
Metrixnano manufactures custom tungsten carbide optical mold inserts and mold cores in China. Each project starts with a review of the material grade, part geometry, optical surface definition, quantity and inspection requirements. The supply scope is confirmed from your drawing. We support optical tooling inquiries for aspheric, freeform, cylindrical and array geometries, subject to a manufacturing feasibility review.

Specify the complete requirement
| Requirement | Information for review |
|---|---|
| Material | Tungsten carbide grade, binder content when relevant, material condition and any customer-specified material source. |
| Dimensions | Outside diameter, height, mounting features, datums and complete toleranced drawing. Final size range is confirmed for the individual geometry. |
| Optical geometry | Aspheric coefficients or surface data, clear aperture, array pitch and alignment references as applicable. |
| Precision | Machining capability down to 0.5 μm for suitable parts. Agree the controlled feature and measurement conditions before manufacture. |
| Surface and coating | Specify roughness, form error and any coating separately. Coating availability and acceptance requirements require project confirmation. |
| Quantity and delivery | Prototype and batch requirements. Typical lead time is approximately one week and depends on machining complexity, quantity and processing. |
Inspection and acceptance
Dimensional tolerance, optical form error and surface roughness describe different properties. Provide the required metric, units, measurement aperture and acceptance limits. The inspection plan and report content are agreed before production. Equipment resolution alone is not a guaranteed workpiece tolerance.

Procurement questions
Do you supply a finished lens or a mold insert?
This page covers tungsten carbide tooling and mold cores. For finished glass or plastic optical components, identify that requirement separately so the quotation covers the correct deliverable.
Can a specific optical molding process be assumed?
No. State the molding material, working environment and operating conditions. The material and tooling route must be reviewed for the intended application.
How can we protect confidential designs?
Ask for an NDA before sending confidential drawings. A preliminary inquiry can describe the material, approximate geometry and quantity.
What determines the quotation?
Material grade, geometry, surface specification, critical tolerances, inspection requirements, quantity and delivery schedule determine the scope and price.
